We had the second Video Conference with Von Steuben HS in Chicago, USA at 7:30 - 8:30 on March 20th Japan time, at 16:30 - 17:30 on March 19th Chicago time. It is the last one for our "Chopsticks & Forks" project and three members of Japanese Consulate in Chicago attended. Students of Von Steuben HS started to say "Ohayo gozaimasu" in Japanese, meaning good morning in English. Next, they demonstrated Cheer leading, had a presentation for their school introduction with power point, showed one of typical student's life and sang America the Beautiful Next, our students of class1-6 had some quizzes for our partner, they were "school uniform", "how to use chopsticks", "what for is using of cell phone" and "the white day". Our students asked their partner to raise their hands when they got. American students always answered correctly. We were amazed that American students shared Japanese teenager's culture. They suddenly had a question about break-school rule during our quiz and we were in trouble with the answer of the question. We thought that we needed to prepare about more things to have our presentation. At last, we showed name in Kanji character on paper for each partner and we also explained the meaning of them. We were very happy to see that our partners were deeply impressed. March was the month of our School year END. Our project with Chicago which had been keeping since November, 2002 closed too. Dear friends at Von Steuben HS, Chicago!! Thank you for sharing wonderful experience and time. Sayonara, Good-by!! PS. New class1-6 for fresh students contacted again and they are keep in the project in April, 2003. We are sure they have a good time with students of Von Steuben HS until the middle of June, their school year end. |
