Four students of Research & Study class had a plan to have a Video Conference with Punahou students in April. (New Class was started in April in Japan) They have been exchanging self-intro and topics between both school on BBS. On the day for this Video Conference, three students of class and two students who will accept Punahou's students homestay in June come to school on Saturday, No school day. They prepared and check their self-intro and questions in English and they seemed to be nervous a little bit. At 9:30 Japan time (14:30 Hawaii time), Punahou students appeared on the screen and said hello, konnichiwa. Of course we said hello back soon, but they could not hear us clealy. About for 30 minutes of the beginning, we could not talk smoothly because of not being good at English and Japanese at both side, re-setting Audio device of Punahou side. We were very worried about their communication. And also there was 3 seconds between Video and Audio, Audio was behind Video by every talking and it was very difficult for both students to go on. We thought much traffic on internet made it slow and we have to solve it with re-setting up transmission rate or something by next chance. Both students were great and they became to talk each other in such a bad situation, "Hello", "Do you have a question", "pardon?" and so on. They enjoyed talking about class & subjects, favorite musician, cell phone service, iPOD etc. a lot. The wonderful time in one hour and half went away at a moment and they missed each other with waving Sayonara. Thank you very much, All of Punahou school, See you again. . |
